| Flip- Up Sanding Mat When I'm sanding small workpieces with a palm sander, I like to use a non-skid sanding mat. The mat holds the pieces in place and leaves me with one less thing to worry about. The only trouble I have is keeping the mat within easy reach. |

solution to this problem was simple. As you can see in the drawing, I
attached the mat to the backside of my bench with a narrow cleat and a
few woodscrews. Now, when I need the mat, I just flip it up onto the benchtop.
And when it's not in use, it can hang from the side of the bench out of
