Make Miter Saw Table Non-skid
There are times when
it's difficult to hold a workpiece steady on a miter saw. Crown molding in
particular wants to slip away from the fence when I stand it up on
edge.
Taking a cue from my routing experiences, I know that using a non-slip
router pad will hold a workpiece steady. So now when I need a non-slip surface,
I use an inexpensive alternative. I simply use a roll of the thin rubber shelf
liner and cut it to fit on the base of my miter saw.
I put a strip on the left side
when I'm cutting short pieces. And when I'm cutting long pieces, I put some of
the shelf liner material under the outer end to help keep the workpiece level.
Just roll it up for storage when it's not needed.
