Table Saw Cover

When you need an extra worksurface, a natural place to turn is your table saw. But it’s not exactly the best surface to work on because the miter slots, blade opening, and wings are not smooth and even.

The solution is a simple one. All you need to do is make a cover that slips over the top of your table saw and doubles as a worksurface (drawing below).

The cover is made out of a piece of ¹/₄″ hardboard because of it’s smoothness and durability. To hold it in place on your table saw, the cover is surrounded by a rabbeted apron of hardwood edging.

You’ll want to size the cover so the apron fits just over the top of your table saw, including the rails for your rip fence.

Finally, when you’re not using it, you can simply lift it off your table saw and hang it on the wall.
